Coordinator of Authorization
Schedule: Varying hours, Monday - Friday
*Up to 20 hours per week

Momentum is seeking a Coordinator of Authorizations and help make sure individuals in our Intermediate Care Facilities for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities (ICF/DD) programs get timely access to the medical, therapeutic, and supportive services they need.

Coordinator of Authorization Responsibility:
- Submit and track service authorization requests with Medicaid, managed care organizations, and other funding sources.
- Monitor deadlines, expirations, and renewal dates to ensure uninterrupted care.
- Keep accurate, up-to-date records of all authorization documents and related communication.
- Work closely with nursing, therapy, case management, and direct support teams to collect documentation needed for authorizations
- Attend interdisciplinary team meetings to stay in the loop on individual needs and service plan updates
- Ensure all authorizations meet federal, state, and local regulations—including CMS and developmental disability-specific guidelines
- Help prepare reports and support audits related to authorizations and service usage
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and uphold confidentiality in all documentation and communication.
- Act as the point of contact for funding agencies when issues or delays arise
- Keep families, guardians, and internal teams informed with timely updates on authorization status
- Lead the development and implementation of IT systems to streamline authorization processes.
- Collaborate with IT, finance, and external partners to build systems that support multiple rate stacking and improved reimbursement tracking.
Coordinator of Authorization Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of experience in healthcare or DD services, ideally within an ICF setting
- Strong understanding of Medicaid, DD waiver programs, and reimbursement structures
- Experience with health information systems and inter-agency collaboration
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic health records (EHR)
- Read, write, comprehend, and communicate in English well enough to perform essential duties and responsibilities
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Successfully pass all post offer, pre-employment screening requirements, including criminal background check, drug screening, health screening, TB screening and provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States
- Ability to run, push, pull, bend, squat, kneel, and lift up to fifty (50) pounds
