Senior Director of Community Engagement

Momentum is hiring a Senior Director of Community Engagement to support our therapeutic services program. The Senior Director of Community Engagement is a bold, creative leader responsible for reimagining how adults with disabilities connect with the world around them. Working in close partnership with the Senior Director of Therapeutic Services, this role drives the design, implementation, and oversight of community-based experiences that are inclusive, interactive and deeply meaningful.

Senior Director of Community Engagement Essential Responsibilities:  

  • Champions an ambitious vision for community engagement that centers on fun, purpose, and inclusion for adults with disabilities.
  • Establishes and nurtures strategic relationships with local businesses, civic organizations, cultural institutions, and public agencies to unlock access and foster lasting partnerships.
  • Collaborates with the Senior Director of Therapeutic Services to ensure a seamless integration between in-house programming and community engagement efforts.
  • Creates systems and structures to assess participant interests and design individualized engagement plans that evolve over time.
  • Coaches and empowers staff to facilitate high-quality, safe, and meaningful activities and adventures that honor participant autonomy. 
  • Works cross-functionally with operations, transportation, and program teams to remove logistical barriers to community access.
  • Partners with clinical and behavioral support teams to ensure experiences are trauma-informed and responsive to individual needs.
  • Manages outreach to families and guardians to build trust and collaboration around participants’ community goals.
  • Identifies grant opportunities, sponsorships, and other creative funding sources to expand the scope and scale of offerings.
  • Provides leadership in emergency preparedness and ensures all outings maintain the highest safety and risk management standards.
  • Collaborates with Communications/Development teams to document and celebrate success stories.
  • Supervises and mentors a growing team of community engagement professionals, modeling creativity, collaboration, and excellence.
  • Leads and supports participant committees, advisory groups, or councils focused on shaping Momentum’s presence in the community.

Administrator Qualifications:

  • Must be 21 years of age 
  • Must maintain valid and current proof of legal right to drive in California; required 
  • Bachelor’s degree in human services or related discipline; required
  • Minimum of five (5) years' of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and/or experience in a related field; required 
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the following is preferred: working with people with special needs; service design, development, and implementation; program administration and budgeting; and working with regional centers, licensing, and other agencies
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to walk, bend, squat, kneel, and lift up to fifty (50) pounds
  • Successfully pass all post offer, pre-employment screening requirements, including criminal background check, physical exam, drug screening, and provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States
